Salt Lake City and Calgary duked it out at Lynx Stadium and the Buzz came out victorious.
The Salt Lake City Buzz picked up a win at Lynx Stadium, knocking off the Calgary Lynx, 6-3. Starting pitcher Shotaro Sugahara was an essential part of his team's success. Sugahara got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. Sugahara allowed 2 earned runs. Jorge Mejía closed the door for Salt Lake City, picking up his 3rd save of the year.
Tim Waters drew 1 walk for Salt Lake City. The 29-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ramón Martínez. It was his 13th RBI of the season.
"Shotaro is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Salt Lake City manager Enrique Zumaya.
The win takes Salt Lake City to 6-7.
