Rainbow Mermaids Rally to Eke Out Win
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids grabbed a 6-5 win over the Chicago Gold Sox at Atlantica. Northern Virginia center fielder Alfredo Pizarro was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once to earn player of the game honors. Northern Virginia has now won 4 straight.

The Rainbow Mermaids beat the Gold Sox in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Mike Strickland produced in the bottom of the tenth. Batting against Chicago pitcher Tom McKee, Strickland gave his team a 6-5 lead when he hit a walk-off run-scoring single.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Strickland.
