Late Rally by Atoms Secures Win
|
The Billings Polar Bears got a superb performance from pitcher Salvador López, but the Bethesda Atoms still won the game, 3-2. López was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Hakan Yilmanz closed the game out for Bethesda, earning his 2nd save. At 21-18, Bethesda is in 5th place in the Menard's AA.
The Atoms got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Vic Richards. For the game, Richards went 1-1. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 14th hit of the season gave Bethesda a 3-2 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Richards told reporters after the game.
