The exploits of second baseman Janghyun Sam helped the Vermont Lake Monsters defeat the Houston BC, 6-2. Sam went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. Vermont reliever Bayram Tanaoglu picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Adam Green absorbed the loss. Vermont has now won 3 straight, while the BC have lost 10 in a row.
The Lake Monsters got a big at-bat from shortstop Cosmo Castanhedo. For the game, Castanhedo went 1 for 5 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 7th double of the season gave Vermont a 4-1 lead.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Sam said.
