Doubledays Best Braves in Pitching Duel
|
Tremont got a strong outing from Christian Irgoyen as the Doubledays defeated the Gryfindor Braves, 2-1, at Cayuse Ballpark. In 8 innings, Irgoyen surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Daniel Lavalley earned the save for Tremont, his 2nd of the year.
David Elías, who is rated as the 97th best prospect by BNN, aided the Tremont cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth. For the game, the catcher was 1-3 with a hit by pitch.
"We'll savor this win," Elías told the Tremont Daily News, "then get ready for the next game."
Tremont is now 42-32, Gryfindor 41-33.
