The Bloomington Longnecks got a superb performance from pitcher Kent Clement, but the Houston BC still won the game, 3-2. Clement was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings allowing 3 runs. Stef Dijkman earned the save for Houston, his 3rd of the year. Even with the win, the BC have a dismal 22-51 record.
Phil Dougherty chipped in for Houston, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the bottom of the third inning. For the game, the catcher was 1-3 with a walk.
In postgame comments to the Houston Times, Dougherty said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
