Drummers Come Up Short at Scranton
|
The Scranton Supernovas did just enough to secure a 3-2 victory over the Tortolita Drummers at Nuclear Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Masami Kogawa, who captured player of the game honors. Kogawa went 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 7-5. Jeff Schneider was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 8 of 11 save opportunities.
The Supernovas got a big at-bat from second baseman Michael Walker. For the game, Walker was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Scranton a 3-1 lead.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Walker told the Scranton Today.
The win puts the Supernovas at 28-39, while the Drummers drop to 33-34.
