Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Port Royal Disaster home opener. Nam Yee Yong started for the home team against Santiago López for the Vermont Lake Monsters. The Disaster were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 9-4, Vermont. Joe Aller was named player of the game. Vermont starter Santiago López was credited with the win after throwing 97 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.

Aller had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the top of the third inning, when he drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Lake Monsters went on to win.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Aller said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
