|
Despite a great performance by Westwood left fielder Phil Minor, the Irving Blue Sox defeated the Sixshooters by the score of 6-4 at Sixshooters Stadium. Minor went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. The winner was António Escobeda, who threw 339 pitches over 16.2 innings. The left-hander was charged with 14 runs on 27 hits. Rich McLean closed the door for Irving, picking up his 13th save of the year.
Duncan, Oklahoma-born Scott Donlan came through in the clutch. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st and the Blue Sox trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run home run to left to put Irving on top.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Donlan. "And not try to do too much."
Irving, at 26-25, occupies 5th place in the Silver AA.
