Belugas Raise Rally Flag, Beat Augusta, 6-5
|
The Brinkley Belugas beat the Augusta Timber Hawks, 6-5 at Belugas Ballpark, in part due to second baseman Wu-shiun Wang, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Brinkley reliever Ánibal Rivera picked up the win to move to 3-4. Iván Flores suffered the loss. Carlos Padrón got credit for the save for Brinkley. It was his 9th of the year.
Wang had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a 0-1 fastball from Iván Flores, he banged a run-scoring double to right, giving the Belugas a 6-5 lead. It was the 14th double of the year for Wang.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Wang. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
At 49-48, the Belugas find themselves in 7th place in the Menard's AAA.
