Fortis Goes Wild, But Fighting Dachsunds Win
Despite a fine performance by first baseman Víctor Fortis, the Brinkley Belugas suffered a 13-9 loss to the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds. Fortis was 2-2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Dennis Brown got the win, improving to 1-1. He worked 5 innings, giving up 7 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 5. Rodger de Meza sewed up the save, his 1st.

Atlanta, Georgia-born Daniel Riley came through in the clutch. In the top of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Fighting Dachsunds trailing 3-1, he hit a 3-run home run to right to put Ellenburg on top.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Nathan Austin.

Ellenburg is now 38-27, Brinkley 32-33.
