Fighting Dachsunds Win Thriller, 5-4
|
Dog Park in Ellenburg was sent into a frenzy with a walk-off win.
The Pennsauken Flyers got a sterling performance from pitcher Luis Torrez, but the Fighting Dachsunds still prevailed, 5-4. Torrez was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. Ellenburg reliever Félix Santiago picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Luis Torrez was saddled with the loss.
Ryan French was the walk-off hero for Ellenburg. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Fighting Dachsunds catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," French told the Ellenburg Times.
Ellenburg, now 2-0, has gotten their season off to a good start.
