Late Rally by Red Pandas Secures Win
Fans of the Sioux Falls Red Pandas who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Sioux Falls win over the visiting Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 8-7. Roberto De La Cruz started for the home team against Kostas Antetokounmpo. John Brewer earned the coveted player of the game honors. The win was credited to Hwen-thiang Qin in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Francisco López took the loss.

Had Willis Kirkendall not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Kirkendall hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Red Pandas.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Kirkendall said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
