Otero on Fire, Strikes out 16 Express
|
Jorge Otero of the Portland Evergreens put on a pitching clinic today at Evergreen Park as he struck out 16 Wizarding Express in a 2-0 victory. Otero, who leads the SL with a 1.71 ERA, was simply magnificent as he held the Express to 1 hit. He walked 2.
"I felt okay at the beginning," Otero said, "but eventually my cutter really started working. I also have to thank my catcher for calling a great game."
When asked about Otero's performance, Evergreens manager Imran Baig shook his head and said, "Yeah, he was pretty good out there today. He was dominating."
So far this year Otero has made 18 starts, tossed 110.1 innings, struck out 119 batters and walked 35. His record is 10-2 with a 1.71 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .186 batting average.
