The Northern Virginia starter rose to the occasion at Evergreen Park today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Rainbow Mermaids to a crucial 4-0 victory over the Portland Evergreens. Peña threw 6 innings of shutout ball as the Rainbow Mermaids won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- Round 2030.

Ed Adams, who is rated as the 14th best prospect by BNN, aided the Northern Virginia cause with a 2-run single in the top of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter was 1-4, while adding 2 RBI.
