Chukars Come Up Short at Yellowknife
|
The Yellowknife Dragonblood picked up a win at The Dragon Den, knocking off the Idaho Falls Chukars, 2-1. On the mound for Yellowknife was right-hander Eugenio Piñeiro, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 7 innings, Piñeiro surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 12 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Earning his 4th save for Yellowknife was Roberto Muñóz.
Juan López, who is tied for 5th in the PA in hits with 53, aided the Yellowknife cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the second baseman went 1-3.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" López told the Yellowknife Herald. "You win just by scoring more runs."
Yellowknife is now 28-18. Idaho Falls is 27-19.
