Victory Over Expos Takes Bellevue to 31-16
|
The Bellevue Bruins defeated the Niagara Falls Expos, 5-3, in USSL Single A action at Waterfall Park, with Bellevue pitcher Claudio Mateo named player of the game. Mateo, the winner, moves to 5-2. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 5 walks. Earning his 15th save for Bellevue was Brendan Haataja.
It could have been a different outcome for Bellevue, had it not been for Juan Romero, the 22-year old center fielder . Romero contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put Bellevue up, 3-1.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Bellevue manager . "It's usually not just one thing."
This win makes it 5 in a row for Bellevue.
