Washington starter Wendell Clingan pitched effectively against the Niagara Falls Expos at Waterfall Park. The right-hander led his team to a 9-4 win. Washington is now 17-19.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the fifth, with the game tied, Ricardo Sandoval was at the plate when Washington scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Generals to go in front, 5-4.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Clingan told the Washington Times. "It's as simple as that."
