Late Rally by Continentals Secures Win
|
The Chesapeake Continentals did just enough to secure a 2-1 victory over the Asheville Highlanders at Asheville Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Marcos Beringel, who captured player of the game honors. The win was credited to Raúl Flores in relief. His record improves to 2-3. José Fuentes took the loss. Mat Tengku converted his 4th save in 4 tries.
Jorge Alfiche made it 2-1 in favor of Chesapeake when he delivered a run-scoring single. It came with one out in the top of the ninth. The Continentals went on to win.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Beringel told reporters after the game.
Chesapeake, at 38-53, sits in last place in the Premier AA.
