Misfits Cut Down Rails, 9-7
|
The Salem Misfits overcame a good performance by Richland left fielder Leon Carlisle to knock off Richland, 9-7, at Ricochets Ballpark. Carlisle went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. José Morales picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Russ Melton was tagged with the loss. Earning his 20th save for Salem was Tim Nesheim.
It could have been a different outcome for Salem, had it not been for Robinson Barquero, the slick-fielding center fielder . Barquero contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning to put Salem up, 9-7.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Barquero told the Salem Citizen.
The Misfits' win now puts them at 52-37.
