Lionhearts Continue Skid Thanks to Leroux, Mermen
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Éric Leroux, the Myrtle Beach Mermen defeated the Lannister United Lionhearts, 9-2. Leroux was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Mermen. Jorge Vázquez was the winner. Over 8.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 6 walks and 3 strikeouts. Myrtle Beach has now won 4 games in a row.
The Mermen got a big at-bat from left fielder John O'Neil. For the game, O'Neil was 2-5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 33rd hit of the season gave Myrtle Beach a 3-2 lead.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Leroux said after the game.
