Continentals Roll to 8-3 Win Over Highlanders
|
The Chesapeake Continentals defeated the Asheville Highlanders, 8-3, at Chesapeake Grounds today. Leading the charge for Chesapeake was first baseman Alberto Esquivel. He was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Fabian Thul got the win, improving to 4-2. He worked 5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Chesapeake occupies 5th place in the Premier AA at 21-23.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out in the bottom of the third inning. That's when third baseman Edgar Baeza reached on an error by the 1B, driving in 1 run. The Continentals went on to win.
"We did a lot of things right," said Baeza.
