Hotspur Reserves Fall to Buzz, 7-3
|
A nice crowd turned out to see the Salt Lake City Buzz and Phoenix Hotspur Reserves clash at Thunderbirds Stadium.
Salt Lake City beat Phoenix on the strength of starter Gary Kellenberger's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 7-3 win. Kellenberger picked up the win for Salt Lake City, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 8-8. Barry Jones earned the save for Salt Lake City, his 3rd of the year.
Mike Gillespie was 2-4 with a triple for Salt Lake City. The speedster had a key at-bat in the top of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mike Harris. It was his 42nd RBI of the season.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Kellenberger.
The Buzz now have a mark of 47-42.
