Springfield and Virginia Beach duked it out at Springfield Stadium and the Shooters came out victorious.

The Springfield Shooters picked up a win at Springfield Stadium, knocking off the Virginia Beach Deuces, 4-2. Starting pitcher Bob Mullinax, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Mullinax went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 6. His record improves to 4-3. Getting the save was Fred Pitts, his 3rd.

Sébastien Bernard's at-bat in the bottom of the third inning was a big one for Springfield. Coming to bat with one out, the bases loaded and Springfield leading 1-0, the center fielder hit a sacrifice fly.

"We did a lot of things right," said Mullinax.

The Shooters improved to a lofty 29-12.
