Evergreens Jolt Flamingos with Late Rally
|
Las Vegas got a terrific performance from pitcher Cris Herrera, but it wasn't enough to beat the Portland Evergreens. Portland won the The Strip contest, 4-2. Herrera was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings allowing 1 run. The Evergreens improved to a lofty 61-19.
Had Bubba Blevins not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Blevins hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Evergreens.
"We take it day by day here," said Blevins, "and today was a good one for us."
