The Capital District Red Knights picked up a win at Capital Grounds, knocking off the Kingston Township Legion, 2-1. Starting pitcher Raúl Luna, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Capital District, at 19-27, sits in 9th place in the Third League.
Mario Álvarez found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Kingston Township hurler John Riggleman, the 21-year-old left fielder reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run. His 13th RBI of the season put the Red Knights on top, 2-1.
"Runs were at a premium," said Capital District manager Chase Sims.
