Halberds Clip Reserves in Tight Contest
|
Alloway right-hander António Marés pitched his team to victory over the Athletic Club KC Reserves at KC Reserve Stadium. The final score was 4-3. Marés went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-1. Even with the win, the Halberds have a dismal 16-35 record.
Carlos De Jesús had the most critical at-bat for Alloway. With two in the top of the ninth inning, De Jesús hit a first pitch curveball from Kas Groen for a solo home run. It put Alloway in front, 4-3.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Alloway manager Santiago Vargas.
