Pérez Rips Toledo for 5 Hits
|
Dutchmen center fielder António Pérez had his way with Toledo pitching today at Pacesetter Park and mauled them for 5 hits in 6 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Stingers ruined his great day by toppling the Dutchmen, 7-6.
"I had a great day, but you've got to give Toledo credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits."
"Oh, we noticed what Pérez did today," Stingers skipper TJ Reynolds said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him."
António Pérez singled in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, hit an RBI single in the 9th and hit a two-run home run off Bill Edmonds in the 11th.
