Gold Sox Come Up Short at Grafton
|
Grafton left fielder Ramón Gómez was instrumental in his team's 5-3 win over the Chicago Gold Sox. Gómez, who is a two-time Gold Glove winner, went 3-3 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Middies. Dave Turner, who went 7.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 5-7. Truman Valentine was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 6 save opportunities.
Lúcio López aided the Grafton cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third. For the game, the designated hitter drove in one run.
Gómez attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
Today's win puts Grafton at 33-43, while Chicago falls to 45-31.
