Marmelo Lifts Grey Wolves to 11-2 Win
|
It was a good time at Wolf Den in Vancouver, where fans came to watch the Rocky Mountain Nuggets and Vancouver Grey Wolves get after it.
Benefiting from Aquiles Marmelo's productive game, the Vancouver Grey Wolves downed the Rocky Mountain Nuggets, 11-2. Marmelo hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the Grey Wolves. Pedro Valdéz got the win, improving to 4-8. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 1 hits and no runs, while striking out 1 and walking 3.
In the bottom of the second inning, second baseman José Jarca came through big-time for the Grey Wolves. With Vancouver leading 2-0, he belted a 2-run home run.
"We were in it," said Rocky Mountain manager Matt Hunt. "We just didn't score enough runs."
Their 33-41 record puts the Grey Wolves 7th in the Silver League.
