Late Rally by Cauldrons Secures Win
|
The Hogsmeade Cauldrons faced a tough opponent in Mt. Vernon pitcher David Gómez, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Mt. Vernon by a final score of 4-2. Gómez went 8 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Andrés Canó got the win, improving to 4-7. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Even with the win, the Hogsmeade Cauldrons have a dismal 22-42 record.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With one out, Cody Skillings hit a 2-2 changeup from Jeffery Prosser for a run-scoring single. It put Hogsmeade in front, 3-2.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Skillings. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
