Victory Pushes Black Cats Record to 29-29
|
The Gwinnett County Black Cats did just enough to secure a 4-1 victory over the Hogsmeade Cauldrons at Gators Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Aimo Latva, who captured player of the game honors. Latva, now 8-2, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 9, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Ming-hoa Zhou earned the save for Gwinnett County, his 15th.
Ft. Smith, Arkansas-born Juan Pedraza came through in the clutch. In the top of the third, with the bases loaded and the Black Cats trailing 1-0, he hit a bases-clearing double to left to put Gwinnett County on top.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Gwinnett County manager Kenny Billings.
The Cauldrons, at 20-38, have lost 7 straight games.
