Bulls Fall Short, 3-0, at Yellowknife
|
The Yellowknife Dragonblood got a magnificent performance from pitcher Érik Moreau, who muffled the Mt. Vernon offense en route to a tight 3-0 Dragonblood win at The Dragon Den. Moreau, now 1-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. The Dragonblood raised their record to 7-10.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the third inning when the Dragonblood sent teenager Orlando Moruga to the plate against Bulls hurler Will Hunting. With a runner on 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a triple off a first pitch fastball to score 1.
Moruga said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
