Alameda Field was the site of a exceptional pitchers' duel.

Getting an impressive start from Octávio Rodríguez, Alameda beat Washington by the score of 2-1. Alameda reliever Miguel Matos was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Abdul Rashad. The save went to Pieter Spitsbaard, his 9th this season.

The Alameda triumph was a team effort. It included several important contributors, Charles Weber not least among them. In the bottom of the fourth, the Alameda designated hitter came to bat and hit a run-scoring single. It staked his team to a 1-0 lead.

Rodríguez said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.

The Airmen' win now puts them at 22-23.
