Jets Suffer 6-3 Setback
|
Bellevue starter Wilson Longoria pitched effectively against the Kennesaw Jets at Bellevue Field. The left-hander led his team to a 6-3 win. The winning pitcher was Longoria, now 1-0. He tossed 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 6. With the win, Bellevue pushes its record to 4-2.
Tied up with the Jets in the bottom of the fourth, the Bruins got a boost from left fielder Jorge Ayala. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Ayala saw a 2-2 knuckle curve from Luis Torrez and hit a 2-run double to break the stalemate and put Bellevue on top, 2-0.
"The beers will taste better tonight after this win," said the ever-candid Ayala.
