Win Streak Now at 8 for Rainbow Mermaids

The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids eeked out a 4-3 win versus the Wizarding Express at Atlantica. Nobody did more than pitcher Aurelio López, who captured player of the game honors. López went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 9. His record improves to 6-9. Ilie Paunescu earned his 25th save in 28 chances.
In the bottom of the fifth, Northern Virginia designated hitter Brett Callison had a productive at-bat. With the bases empty and no outs, Callison stroked a solo home run to left-center. It made the score 4-3, Northern Virginia. For the game, he went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"I really like what we did out there today," López said after the game.
The 6th-place Rainbow Mermaids now have a 8-game winning streak.
