Big Day for Stidston as Guzzlers Down Revolution, 9-4
|
The Galesburg Guzzlers beat the York Revolution, 9-4, at Galesburg Field. Galesburg shortstop Jack Stidston earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 4 for 4 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Keith Rojas, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 6.1 innings. The Guzzlers now have a record of 8-12 with the win over York.
With Galesburg leading 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Stidston came up to bat against York pitcher Rizal Vallar. Stidston hit a fastball to left-center for a bases-clearing double. His 1st double of the season put the Guzzlers on top, 7-0.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Galesburg Guzzlers manager Rickey Burrell. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
