Asheville starter Romano Martínez pitched effectively against the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles at Mercer Island Grounds. The right-hander led his team to a 4-3 win. Brandon McAllister picked up the save, his 4th. Asheville goes to 37-43, Mercer Island to 55-25.

Miguel Montoya dealt the Screaming Eagles a blow in the top of the second. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Asheville leading 1-0, Montoya, who is tied for 5th in the PAA in total bases with 136, hit a 0-2 fastball for a 2-run double.

"We need to keep playing good baseball," Montoya told the Asheville Times.
