The Bakersfield Nobles faced a tough opponent in Gryfindor pitcher Fred Gunther, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Cayuse Ballpark by a final score of 5-3. Gunther went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The win was credited to Bastião Shwerin in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Octávio Ríos took the loss. The 4th-place Nobles lifted their record to 15-12.
The most important at-bat for Bakersfield came in the top of the 11th inning, when catcher Chandler Bailey stroked a 1-1 fastball to center for a run-scoring single, putting Bakersfield up, 4-3.
"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Bailey.
