|
San Bernardino Grasshoppers starter Alfredo Ruíz was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Ottawa Nationals, 3-2. Ruíz was the winning pitcher and moves to 4-4. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 3 walks. Héctor Valentín recorded his 13th save for San Bernardino.
San Bernardino second baseman Jaime López changed the complexion of the game in the bottom of the sixth. That's when he belted a 2-run home run off Travis Nelson. His 7th home run of the season put San Bernardino in front, 3-2.
In comments to the San Bernardino Observer, López admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
The 'W' lifts San Bernardino's record to 30-36.
