L'Ouverture Helps Shooters Run Win Streak to 5
|
The Springfield Shooters beat the Long Island Seawolves, 9-2, at Springfield Stadium. Springfield catcher Toussiant L'Ouverture earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 1-1 with a home run and 4 walks. He scored 3 times. César Albó, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 6-2. The Springfield winning streak has now reached 5 games.
Also contributing to the win was center fielder Gabrio Campoverde, who stroked a 2-run triple in the bottom of the fifth for Springfield. For the game, Campoverde was 1-3 with a triple and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
