Stingers Drop Another One
|
Fans who came to Dutch Master Park watched the New Amsterdam Dutchmen and the Toledo Stingers fight to the finish.
The New Amsterdam Dutchmen topped the Toledo Stingers, 8-1, with Cornelius Taitt playing a big role. Taitt went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Dutchmen in the win. J.J. Spencer earned the win for New Amsterdam. He lasted 7.1 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 4 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 8-5.
Eric Ward also delivered for the Dutchmen. The veteran first baseman belted a solo home run in the bottom of the second. The longball put New Amsterdam on top, 1-1. Overall, Ward went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2.
"I thought we played a nice game," Taitt told the New Amsterdam Gazette. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The Stingers have now dropped 5 straight.
