84s Topple Legion as Escues Shines
|
Greenville first baseman Roberto Escues picked up 3 ribbies while helping his team beat back the Kingston Township Legion, 6-5. Colijn de Goedere locked down his 10th save. Greenville, at 55-29, sits in second place in the Third League.
Escues came through with some timely hitting for Greenville. With the score 2-1 in the top of the third and one down, Escues hit a 1-1 fastball for a 2-run home run. It was his 11th home run of the season -- and a big reason the 84s managed to win.
In comments to the Greenville Chronicle, Escues admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
