Red Knights Come Up Short at Greenville
|
The Greenville 84s and Capital District Red Knights played an exciting game at 84s Field.
Greenville starter Sam Mooney pitched effectively against the Capital District Red Knights at 84s Field. The right-hander led his team to a 4-3 win. Mooney, now 4-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. Theodore Urban earned his 7th save in 7 tries.
Francisco Reyes's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was significant for the 84s. Coming to the plate with runners on 1st and 3rd and Greenville leading 3-0, the right fielder hit a run-scoring single.
Reyes attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
Greenville now sits in first place in the Third League at 40-17.
