Red Knights Lose to Flamingos, 6-2
|
The exploits of first baseman Chris McKinney, who won the Outstanding Hitter Award in 2025, helped the Las Vegas Flamingos defeat the Capital District Red Knights, 6-2. McKinney went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Shunen Takahashi was the winner. Over 7.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. The Flamingos saw their win-loss record go to 21-17. At the same time, the Red Knights fall to 19-19.
In the bottom of the 2nd, the Flamingos grabbed the lead when Pepe Castroneves rapped a two-out home run. Las Vegas was trailing 1-0, when Castroneves hit a 2-run home run off Juan Montoya to put his team in front, 2-1.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," McKinney said after the game.
