Lake Monsters Fall to .500 After Loss to Halberds
|
The Alloway Halberds defeated the Vermont Lake Monsters, 5-4, in USSL Triple A action at Monster Field, with Alloway pitcher Orlando De Jesús named player of the game. De Jesús, now 5-8, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. Kenete Daku was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities.
Vito Middendorf, who is rated as the 45th best prospect by BNN, aided the Alloway cause with a solo home run in the top of the seventh. For the game, the shortstop went 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," De Jesús told the Alloway Daily News.
Alloway occupies last place in the Silver AAA at 32-66.
