León Leads Lynx to Win
|
Lynx Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Calgary Lynx and the Pennsauken Flyers.
The Calgary Lynx topped the Pennsauken Flyers by the score of 12-9, with the largest share of the credit going to right fielder José León. León was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5 for the Lynx. Morlack Spurgeon was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 7 runs on 12 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. Picking up the save was Tate Beason, his 2nd.
One important at-bat came with the bases loaded in the bottom of the third, when León drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Lynx went on to win.
"It wasn't our best performance," said León, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
The Calgary Lynx, now 2-0, have played some good baseball in the early going.
