The Irving Blue Sox got a stellar performance from pitcher Willie Simmons, who handcuffed the Yakima offense en route to a 5-2 win at Blue Sox Ballpark. Irving reliever Carlos Hernández was credited with the win, to go to 4-2. Mark Poirer took the loss for Yakima. Martin Besnier earned the save, his 3rd.

Irving took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Phil MacNamara hit a clutch solo home run to bring Blue Sox fans to their feet.

"We found a way to get it done," MacNamara said.

Irving has now won 3 straight, while the Hops have lost 4 in a row.
