Sixshooters Cut Down Mermen, 5-2
|
Sixshooters Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Westwood Sixshooters and the Myrtle Beach Mermen.
Westwood rode a fine outing from starter Antoine Ayuso to victory over the Myrtle Beach Mermen at Sixshooters Stadium. The final score was 5-2. Ayuso went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 1-2. Christian Clayton earned the save, his 3rd.
Phil Minor was a key contributor to the win for the Sixshooters. In the bottom of the sixth with two out, the light-hitting designated hitter stroked a double to right. He was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Ayuso told a Westwood Bulletin reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
The Myrtle Beach Mermen, now 6-6, continue their poor start.
