Loss Extends Westwood Losing Streak
|
Despite a fine performance by second baseman António Quintero, the Westwood Sixshooters suffered a 8-3 loss to the Durham Rapiers. Quintero was 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 singles. He scored 3 runs. Durham starter Lance de Valk was credited with the win after throwing 111 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Durham is off to a hot start at 6-2.
Tied up with the Sixshooters in the top of the fourth, the Rapiers got a boost from center fielder Dave Sienna. With the bases loaded, Sienna saw a first pitch fastball from Antoine Ayuso and hit a 2-run double to break the stalemate and put Durham on top, 4-2.
"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Sienna. "But I have better dreams after a win."
